We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

December is the favorite time of year for paisas (what people in our area call themselves). Lights, music, special foods, more lights, firecrackers, fireworks, more lights, and parties. Our municipality always does special light displays in the town square, and this year was the best one so far for us. We’ve had a special feeling of belonging more and more in the community here. We also got to have a great visit with Johnny, Mary Beth, and Andrew who came for Christmas and Amy’s birthday. We are so grateful for that time – though it ended on a rough note as they got caught in the United Airlines debacle this weekend in Houston on the way home. Hopefully they will have safely driven back to Huntsville by the time you receive this update.

Year-end needs:

We depend on consistent financial support to be able to engage full-time in the ministry. Our monthly giving doesn’t keep up with expenses, but the Lord normally provides additional funding each year end – equal to about 3 months of normal giving. As International Director for the Americas, my role is to lead, develop, and care for our missionaries as we follow Jesus on his mission of making disciples among all the nations of the Americas. We are working together to see Christ’s Church established and strengthened so that the gospel of his kingdom will advance through all the world. Please pray for me in this mission!

Some practical prayer needs:

More missionaries: Praise the Lord that we have several new missionaries in the pipeline for next year! Jesus told us to pray to the Lord of the harvest that he would raise up more workers. We look around us and see so many opportunities for fruitful ministry – but the workers are few. Please pray that the Lord would add to our number.

Health Concerns: Pray for Steve as he continues to deal with pain and concussion symptoms.

Counseling Licensure: Amy continues to serve in a vital counseling role – for MTW, our local church, and a local counseling foundation. She is accruing her hours for licensure and should be finished by mid-year 2025. Please pray for that process as it involves a lot of red tape.

Greater reliance on God’s strength: It seems that the longer we serve, the easier it can be to be blind to our self-reliance. Pray that our faith would blossom in a posture of deeper dependence on Christ and the ability to rest in his sufficiency.
