Dear friends, Thank you so much for all of your prayers! We have made it to Chile, safe and sound. God has been so merciful to us and has given us his protection and blessing.
The last few days have been a whirlwind of airport runs, trips to the store for one more thing we forgot to think about, trips to government offices trying to get our residency status in order, cleaning the apartment, trying to recover physically from overnight flights, and trying to train our bodies to go to bed three hours earlier than previously. Oh, and a lot of getting lost and stuck in traffic.
Please continue to pray for us – we are far from feeling like we’re on our feet at this point. It has also been an occasion for us to work on our own growth in grace. We are working on loving each other well in the midst of stress and trying circumstances. Please pray for us!
Lord willing, we’ll have a fuller update (with pictures!) in the near future. Until then, please know that we love you, that we think of you, and that we’re so grateful to have you standing with us in the ministry of the gospel! We are in an adventure that is far bigger than we are. We need a big God, but we also need you as part of our team. Thank you for being in our lives. Please take a moment to shoot us a note to encourage us in a like manner! Thank you so much for partnering with us! You are such a blessing to us from the Lord.
Que Dios los bendiga abundantemente.
With love,
Steve

Some prayer specifics: Entry stamps: The immigration official at the airport who received Amy and Mary Beth somehow failed to register them properly. We aren’t yet sure how big an issue this will be – could be as easy as someone saying, “Let me sort that out for you.” Or in a Latin American-American immigration context (where they don’t feel particularly that the USA is helpful to them) it could become more complicated. Pray that we would find grace in the eyes of those who would receive us.
Humidity: We are in a very humid climate – and we need to find good ways to control that in our apartment – both for health and for the protection and preservation of things like books and clothes. Pray we find effective, affordable measures.
Physical recovery: I am doing much better following my surgery. It has been slow, and it is far from complete, but the Lord has protected me in many ways (despite my sometimes-inclination to lift or shift a box a box or case weighing more than the prescribed 5 pounds). Pray the recovery would continue and also that we would all bounce back from the stress of packing, saying goodbye, flying overnight, and moving in. We would love to be the “best” versions of ourselves possible when we begin more to engage with folks at church and in the community.
